We’re big fans of the work that Adam and Jerod are doing over at Changelog. They’ve built an awesome resource for developers, including their namesake podcast The Changelog, and other popular podcasts like JS Party and Founders Talk (which featured Tidelift CEO Donald Fischer a while back). I look forward to their weekly Sunday morning email to help me make sure I didn’t miss anything important over the past week.
A couple of months ago, we started talking to Adam and Jerod about how fun it would be to work together on a podcast exclusively devoted to open source maintainers.
As a result of those conversations, we’ve now kicked off a new monthly “Maintainers Spotlight,” co-produced by Tidelift and Changelog. What do we plan to cover? Adam says it best on the podcast:
“We’re producing this podcast series in partnership with Tidelift because we both deeply care about supporting the maintainers of open source software. Our goal with this series is to dig deep into the life of an open source software maintainer. To learn what challenges they face, the highs and lows of being a maintainer, how they financially support their projects, how they maintain balance between life, day job, and open source, and also how they are supporting and encouraging contributions and community.”
The first episode just came out last week, and it features none other than Ned Batchelder, the maintainer of coverage.py, and a Tidelift lifter. You can listen to it here.
