Underscore is a JavaScript library that provides tons of useful functional programming helpers without extending any built-in objects. Underscore is a dependency of jQuery and Backbone; basically, if you use JavaScript, you depend on Underscore.
Underscore provides over 100 functions that support both functional helpers, like map, filter, invoke—as well as more specialized goodies: function binding, javascript templating, creating quick indexes, deep equality testing, and so on. Underscore is downloaded over 8 million times a week.
We are excited to announce that Julian Gonggrijp is providing assurances for Underscore as part of the Tidelift Subscription. This means Underscore is now part of several Tidelift-managed catalogs, including the License-annotated npm catalog. What exactly is a Tidelift-managed catalog, you wonder? It is a collection of known-good open source packages and package versions vetted and proactively maintained by Tidelift and our open source maintainer partners.
If you’re interested in learning more about how Tidelift catalogs work, check out this short, 30-minute webinar or this 5-minute demo.
You can learn more about Underscore by visiting the project repo.
Tidelift helps organizations reduce the complexity of managing open source components, while keeping them safe and up to date with help from our growing network of partnered open source maintainers—like Julian!
