A few weeks ago we hosted a webinar on a much-requested subject: open source licenses. Though open source licenses might not be the most riveting subject, it’s something many people have questions and concerns about.

Luckily, we have a resident licensing expert here at Tidelift in co-founder Luis Villa. During the 60-minute webinar called Everything you never wanted to know about open source licenses, and were too bored to ask, Luis broke down the basics of licensing and why it’s important.

3. Why does it matter? Conditions are always attached to licenses, and licenses are especially confusing in 2020.
4. Acronyms and lists: Ever wondered what all those acronyms like EPL, AGPL, BSD, and more mean? 

Plus, Luis shared stories about how one small misstep led to costly consequences, like the cautionary tale featuring a major retailer, a router, and someone trying to benefit off improperly licensed code. At the end, he answered questions from the audience.
